DETONATION Hard At Work On New Material

January 5, 2009

Frontman Koen Romeijn of the Dutch death/thrash metal act DETONATION has issued the following update:

"2009 will be the year of the fourth DETONATION album, and without doubt our most interesting album so far. We've been working our asses off the past couple of months, and have written some very dynamic and powerful stuff. We've got six songs completely finished by now, and lots more in the making. The new stuff will be more death metal, more brutal and extreme. But we've also got some ass-kicking mid-paced headbanging parts in there that might surprise people. The melodies sound very powerful this time as well, very nice!

"If all goes well, we'll be doing a promo CD soon to test the new lineup in the studio, and demo some of the songs. And after that start recording the real album [as soon as possible]. I personally cannot wait, in my opinion this is the best DETONATION material ever, without doubt. Besides that, the atmosphere within the band couldn't be better right now, we're very proud and happy to have welcomed Michiel [van der Plicht, drums; ex-PROSTITUTE DISFIGUREMENT, TOXOCARA] and Danny [Tunker, guitar] to the band."

DETONATION will team up with British band BLOODSHOT DAWN for a U.K. tour in March 2009.

A nine-minute November 2008 video update from DETONATION can be viewed below.

DETONATION's latest effort, "Emission Phase", was released on April 30, 2007. The CD was recorded with Split Second Sound's Jochem Jacobs (also guitar player for TEXTURES) and Bouke Visser. The cover artwork was created by Eliran Kantor.

"Emission Phase" was DETONATION's third and final album for French underground label Osmose Productions.
